“The Bluff” farm

My great-grandfather, Abraham Harrison, owned a large farm in Fair Haven which was named β€œThe Bluff.” The time frame was the early 1900s. My grandfather, Harvey Harrison, sold the farm to Adrian Lays I believe prior to 1960. I am trying to get specific information as to the location of the farm if possible.

I did not see your family directly in Fair Haven. I believe their farm was in Wayne County, just west of Blind Sodus Bay.

If the farm was on “The Bluff” it would seem to have been along this stretch of shoreline, though I don’t see Harrison on this 1904 map of Wolcott. There is now a road called Bluff Drive.

The Wayne County Clerk should be able to locate the deed from Harvey Harrison to Adrian Lays.

I found this missing person case that mentions “Abe Harrison’s bathing beach.” There is a beach near the end of Bluff Drive. Perhaps the Wolcott Town Historian may know more.

It looks like Abraham had a son named Harvey and a son named Thomas.
“4 miles west of Fair Haven” would put the Harrison farm where Bluff Drive is today.
